Hello! I hope that you have had a peaceful and joyful Easter time. I wish to share something different. I’ve been working on this large oil painting on and off for about two years (possibly three, if I think about it!). The inspiration came from watching the birds in our garden from the conservatory. A peaceful contrast to my watercolours, oils allow time to mull over the composition and slow down – really, really slow down! It’s called, ‘Window on our Garden’ and I think that it’s finally there! Here is my finished painting…
I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
