For a bit of fun, have a go at the challenge to do a drawing every day through August. You make a drawing, scan or photograph it and send it via Twitter to #DrawingAugust. Here is the one I made earlier today – a preparatory study of cyclists for a new oil painting inspired by the Tour de France. Happy drawing!

I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
