Hello! Saturday was a lovely day in my part of Leicestershire. I was on my way to meet up with friends, but had to pull over as I passed this field for a quick sketch – just a peaceful sight – a field recently harvested with a distant red kite calling in the distance and a mysterious creaking sound coming from the trees – I never discovered what made the sound but it was great to listen as I drew. Here is the drawing which I included for yesterday’s #DrawingAugust project:
I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
