Tour de France 2020: Coming soon…

Hello and bonjour! After all that has happened in 2020, it’s hard to believe that this year’s Tour will start at the end of the week.

To whet your appetite, I will share some images that I have made over the years and that I hope you will enjoy…

This first set shows some of the crowds and bystanders who are so much a part of this race. I wonder quite how this will be in 2020?

  2. Fewer fans, fewer campervans, everyone in masks, it’s going to be strange to say the least. I’ll be working as a volunteer while the Tour is in town which should be fun!

  3. Brings back memories, especially Dutch Corner on Alpes d’Huez, which I cycled through on the morning the 100th Tour came through. Totally nuts & your painting captures this so well. What is can’t capture, of course, is the noise of bad, thumping europop and the pushes on your back as you come through plus the odd Allez Ecosse on the way (I had a Scottish Flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on the back of my bike). Altogether a bizarre experience!!

  6. Cant wait! Hope it goes well considering what everyone is up against ~ a whole new competitor to outrun. The scene from Col de la Forclaz is magnificent!
