This image from Stage 13 was made as the leading trio of Daniel Martínez (EF Pro Cycling) and the two Bora-Hansgrohe men Max Schachmann and Lennard Kämna were making their way towards the steep slopes of the Puy Mary in the Massif Central. This scene shows them passing by a house that was decked in flags – a lovely welcome seen everywhere as the Tour passes by.
I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
I make a lot of pictures and choose the best ones to publish. There are many that don’t work but I have started to recycle them as the base paper for handmade prints and for collages. I have put that work to one side while the Tour is on but hope to publish some of these pieces at some point soon. Many thanks for your lovely comment and question, Maxine 🙂
