Tour de France 2021: Stage 8 – The Grimace of a man with rain in his face
Tour de France – Stage 8, The Grimace of a man with rain in his face
This has to be the longest title of a picture of mine but I felt poor Davide Formolo of UAE Team Emirates deserved it – The camera seemed to catch him as the rain was full in his face, spitting it away almost.
In fact, this scene preceded what for me was a fantastic moment from the stage – Davide peeled away seconds later to allow his teammate Tadej Pogacar to speed through, almost relishing the conditions – Great team work by Formolo in the dreadful conditions
I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
Absolutely! I felt so sorry for him, the rain seemed to be full in his face!
In fact, we have unfinished business regarding the Tour of Romandie… I made some pictures that I didn’t get round to posting… I will do that when the Tour and Euros are over. 👍
