The Tour of Britain began today in Cornwall, visiting the county (country?) for the first time. It’s an incredible part of the UK, independent and unruly, characteristics echoed by the course, which ran along impossibly narrow lanes, steep climbs and sudden twists. The crowds were fantastic and the flags of Cornwall out in force along the route. A lovely start to this year’s race.

I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
