The saddest week for Leicester…

It’s a week since the helicopter crash at the Kingpower Stadium after Leicester City’s home match against West Ham and it’s been so hard for everyone trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of life. I visited the King Power stadium this morning to pay my respects along with a constant stream of people walking quietly together  in the autumn sunshine to bring flowers, scarves, shirts, balloons and toys to lay in tribute. Five people lost their lives on Saturday evening, among them was the chairman of the football club, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. His care for the team, his kindness…

Watercolour painting, 'Autumn breeze'

Autumn breeze

£275 Original watercolour on paper Image size:  27cm (10.5in) width x height 37cm (14.5in) Available to buy- Click here We’ve had some gorgeous days lately as Autumn comes to a close. The forecast for the weekend promises an icy wind straight from the North Pole – certainly felt a bit colder on my walk just now but the sunshine and blue skies are  beautiful and there’s still warmth in the breeze… at least for today!

Back home…

We have a pheasant, in our village, we call call Philip, who trots about from one garden to another and even takes walks along our street – he is quite a star. I am trying (again!) to capture him crowing which is a wonderful flurry of feathers and sound. Here are a few attempts in ink and also the start of a larger piece which combines ink with acrylic paint, a new combination which I learned recently at a workshop with animal artist, Minnie Teckman http://www.teckmanart.com/ Look her up!

Mallorca, villa, bougainvillea

My favourite house…

I call it the ‘Bougainvillea Villa’ because it is shaded by the largest pink bougainvillea you could wish to see. I draw it or paint it every time we come, as it is such a pretty place and I never quite get it but I love to try. I often wonder how many photos and artworks it features in, probably thousands in just one season alone? Either way, it’s a lovely house and here are my fresh attempts today…
