World Cup 2018: England v Panama – Harry Kane sets about taking the net apart!

Hello! Following a football World Cup is a rollercoaster ride for all fans!  I find that I have a mixture of anticipation, anxiety, excitement,  gloom and despair as a tournament goes on. This could well be the fact that I support England and, as all England fans will tell you, it’s never an easy watch! However, so far, there has been more than a glimmer of hope – plenty of things to lift an English heart – There have been goals and plenty of them, proper passing and a formation that works! Good leadership from the manager and a captain…

Sunday snooze

Hello! Time to slow down – The past week has been a bit full on, so to enjoy the company of our cat today is a treat. Recent research says that there are many health benefits from sitting with your cat or dog – they calm, restore and heal. I can’t argue! Sleep on Azlan! 🙂 All the paintings are for sale, unless marked ‘SOLD’. Primaries

Hello! Progressing quietly through January with time to experiment -it’s nice to return to a medium or technique not used for a while. This time, I rediscovered acrylic paint and palette knives, thinking about landscape. It’s been so dark and grey here lately, that I felt the need for colour too – variations on the primaries, red, yellow and blue. Have a great weekend – Here are my paintings:   To enquire about the pictures, click here… Copyright Maxine Dodd

A wider perspective

Hello! I’ve been out and about a bit this week, including a visit to a local art group where we were looking at composition using a panorama. I think it’s a wonderful format which can be used for many subjects. It allows scope for storytelling, (the Bayeux Tapestry being one of the earliest and largest examples) cartoons and film all use the format – and you can do interesting things by turning it up on its end. Many cameras and phones offer a panorama setting these days, so it’s fun to try some. Have a lovely weekend! Here are some of my panoramas:
