A wonderful journey

It’s coming up to the anniversary of my blog ‘Racing Lines’ – My first post was made on 7th July 2012… Just text and no images to try WordPress and see what I could do. In seven years, the blog has taken me to lots of places and I’ve met some lovely people and made friends – It’s been a great adventure – just with my pens, watercolours and pastels – and my laptop.  Today, I discovered that the number of people following ‘Racing Lines’ has risen to 3,000, which I find quite incredible. WordPress tells me that there have…

The saddest week for Leicester…

It’s a week since the helicopter crash at the Kingpower Stadium after Leicester City’s home match against West Ham and it’s been so hard for everyone trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of life. I visited the King Power stadium this morning to pay my respects along with a constant stream of people walking quietly together  in the autumn sunshine to bring flowers, scarves, shirts, balloons and toys to lay in tribute. Five people lost their lives on Saturday evening, among them was the chairman of the football club, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. His care for the team, his kindness…

Hello! Following a football World Cup is a rollercoaster ride for all fans!  I find that I have a mixture of anticipation, anxiety, excitement,  gloom and despair as a tournament goes on. This could well be the fact that I support England and, as all England fans will tell you, it’s never an easy watch! However, so far, there has been more than a glimmer of hope – plenty of things to lift an English heart – There have been goals and plenty of them, proper passing and a formation that works! Good leadership from the manager and a captain…

Let the heartbreak begin…

Bonjour!  The European Football Championships began in Paris on Friday amid great excitement, anxiety and tension. The opening match between France and Romania saw possibly the goal of the tournament from Dimitri Payet to secure victory for France – a fantastic start. Joy too for Wales with the grace and power of Gareth Bale’s free kick earning victory placing them at top of their group. England began their campaign as always… sparks of brilliance but falling short at the last… Here we go again everyone, fasten your seatbelts and get your tissues ready, there will be tears! Meanwhile, here are a…

A big day for Leicester

Hello! The 2016 English Football season finished yesterday and for the fans of Leicester City, the Foxes, it was the last day of an astonishing year’s play. It feels as though the whole world knows the tale now but for citizens of Leicester and especially the team’s fans, we don’t tire of it! The team was facing relegation from the Premier League and from the bottom of the table, began to win matches. They managed to stay up. The start of the 2015-16 season saw them win and win and win and keep on winning until they secured the title…
