Hello! It’s been a great few days working with the curators, Katie, Billie and Jan at the Alfred East Art Gallery, Sheep Street, Kettering. My exhibition opened on Saturday, on a gorgeous sunny day, with French cafe music playing in the gallery, the scene was set perfectly. I so enjoyed welcoming guests to chat about cycling and art. It was a wonderful afternoon that will live long in my memory.
All the paintings featured below are now sold, my thanks to the people who bought them. I’ve been on Cloud 9 ever since! Thank you to everyone who came, you made the day! For those of you who were not able to come, please don’t forget that the show runs until 25th July and you are welcome Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10am-4.30pm. There will be two, ‘Meet the artist’ sessions on Wednesday 1st and Saturday 25th July from 2.30pm. It would be great to see you and say ‘Hello’!

I’m a contemporary artist working in Leicestershire in the UK. I trained in Fine Art using different media including oils and acrylics, but my recent work is a return to my love of drawn media, especially pen, ink, watercolour and pastels. My theme is movement – My subjects are varied from landscape, animals, musicians, dancers and sport, especially cycling. The unifying feature of all these subjects is that they are constantly changing – even in a landscape there is movement everywhere! I capture the energy of elusive moments often starting with a quick pen and ink drawing. I write and publish my artworks on a blog called ‘Racing Lines’.
Thank you Liz, I wish you’d been there too! The exhibition continues until 25th July if you’re able to get to Kettering, but you may be too far away. However, my website and blog are now at the same address – http://www.maxinedodd.com You can see more of my work in the Galleries section, as well as looking through the ‘Older Posts’. If you visit in a few days, there will be a new page giving information about the pictures for people wishing to buy one, but if you have any queries before then, please contact me directly on maxine@maxinedodd.com. Lovely to hear from you! 🙂
